Spiritual, Educational, and Healing Retreats
If you lead a group that focuses on any spiritual, educational, or healing path, you will find a warm welcome at the Margaret Austin Center. We are committed to making your retreat experience satisfying and successful. To that end, we offer a unique facility, a retreat manager to welcome your group, free advertising, and cheerful assistance in helping you plan your retreat experience. A look at our calendar confirms our commitment to diversity. Our goal is to provide you with the surroundings that will allow your retreatants to fully absorb the experience you provide. We book only one retreat for any given time, so the entire Center will belong to you exclusively on the dates you reserve for your retreat.
If you wish to make a personal retreat at the Center, you are welcome to do so with the advance permission of the Resident Manager. Availability of the Center varies, depending on event bookings. Individuals may not stay at the Center if a retreat is in residence or if another event has been booked at the Center. Currently, individuals are housed in the Susan Krantz dormitory. We hope some day to have individual retreat cabins. Tents are always welcome!
Imagine your family and friends gathered around you. If the day is balmy, you may choose to gather outdoors, under the canopy of trees – perhaps in the center of the Labyrinth! If you’d rather look out on nature from behind picture windows, then gather in the meditation hall and look out on the fields, the bamboo, and the lawns. Perhaps a tent in the meadow covers tables laden with food and drink as your guests mingle. Hang wind chimes from the trees and let the wind serenade you – or hire a band and make some good time noise! Options are many and varied at the Margaret Austin Center when you choose to hold your wedding and reception here. No one need drive from place to place: lodging, food, and areas to meet, mingle, dance, and celebrate your marriage are all in one location. We host only one group at a time, so on the day(s) you reserve for your wedding, you, your family, and your friends will be our only guests.
Picnics on the lawn, under a canopy of shady trees. Plenty of room for kites, relay races and other outdoor activities. How long has it been since you played croquet? How about slip n slide for the kids and bridge for the older folks? It’s like summer camp, limited only by your imagination. Those of you who like to camp are welcome to pitch your tents (ideal for the kids). And if you get the itch to explore Washington County, there are a number of area attractions including Blue Bell Creamery, the "living farm" at Washington on the Brazos State Park, Pleasant Valley Winery, and the Brenham Aquatic Center. We host only one group at a time, so on the day(s) of your reunion, your family will be our only guests.
